Week one done

It has been just a little over one week.

One week of adjusting to entering into autumn in the southern hemisphere, adjusting to seeing and experiencing driving on the opposite side of the road, look right then left then right again.

One of the things that we experience is the calendar of the country that we are in. We arrived Tuesday last around 5 pm after a 14 + hour plane ride. The following day was a national holiday- Freedom Day- so the offices were closed. We were able to sleep in and try to overcome jet lag. We worked Thursday and Friday. Basically we had a chance to meet the employees at the area office along with all the senior missionary couples that have been called here in various capacities. Monday was another holiday. I have know idea what the holiday is for.

On Monday Marcia and I went with Charlene and Brent Lee to a mall that was about 10 minutes away from our flat in Duke's Court. The Lee's are here in Jo-burg serving their 7th mission. Elder Lee (Brent) is a retired oral surgeon from Idaho and Sister Lee (Charlene) is a retired therapist. They are serving as Family History Missionaries along with Brent's brother Alan and his wife Cynthia. They have unique challenges when it comes to family history (genealogy) as a lot of the tradition and records kept are oral in nature. Obtaining birth dates, locations, relations etc is very challenging because of that.

On Monday night we had family home evening at the Lee's flat with the siblings and also the other family history couple- the Colemans. We had the chance to watch "Come Unto Me." This is a short film produced by Coventry films. It was written by our eldest son, Joshua, who also played John the baptist. Below is a trailer for the film....jsf
